A good Californian diner, right in Shibuya! You can tell by the buns that this venue is affiliated with E.A.T in Gaienmae. Powdered with flour, thin and crispy, they are as unique and good as ever.
But the burger joint in Gaienmae is more than just about buns. It is about the charming atmosphere of a little mom-and-pop drive-in-style burger joint. It is about special items like the Cajun burger of the Kobe-beef burger. Lastly, it is about the dedication with which chief Michi and his staff polish their burgers. All of that is lost in this new Shibuya outlet. Located in the new Hikarie department store (just behind Shibuya station) California Diner E.A.T plays a different game. It attracts more customers and looks more like a chain. The good point of course is the prime location, just by Shibuya station.
Still, the burgers served are real E.A.T-style burgers. And they’re good, you won’t be disappointed. They are cooked to order, fresh and tasty. The only reproach I can make is that, when I dined there, the burgers were served a bit cold. That and maybe the French fries that were so-so. Note that the menu includes other dishes like taco-rice and burritos.
